hi,
i would like install red hat 9 on my SATA drive...
could you tell me if it supported by 2.4 kernel?
if not,which kernel supports it?
on my first installation attempt,my SATA disk was not detected.
thanks,
dj
I've had the same issue with my home computer not detecting my IDE Controller Card. I was hoping to install some sort of distro to one of the drives on that card, but none seem to detect it. Is there some driver I have to load on the install screen?
hey...
is it true that kernel 2.6 is SATA compliant?
and one thing,in my attemp to install, after the error saying"no hard drive detected",the installer detected my via raid SATA controller...should io continue with installation..
also are there any issues with amd cos some of my friends had trouble installing amd on their boxes..
whats your take on suse v/s red hat anyway?
dj
The difference between 2.4 and 2.6 is that they treat modules differently. They both can deal with SATA but just different. I don't think there are any issues with AMD however I've never tried it my friend uses amd and loves it and he runs debian so I wouldn't think there are any issues.
it worth the try. if you get to the point were it is asking to format the drives and still is not seeing your HD, then you will know, and that is not much further into the install then you are now.
