Red Hat 9.0/Windows XP Problem
 

I am building a 3.2Ghz P4 and I am wanting to dual boot Red Hat Linux 9.0 and Windows XP, does anyone know if Red Hat 9.0 supports a dual boot capacity?

The reason for this is that I want the multimedia and gaming functionality of Windows, but I want the programming adaptability of Linux and I've heard some really good things about 9.0, but one of the real downsides of 9.0 is it only supports 2D Video Cards (in which I have a ATI 9800 Pro 256mb) and I've heard Red Hat 9.0 isn't the optimal OS for running those new visually stunning games.

I have a dual boot machine: XP and RH9. Same reasons of you: great games on the first... and great development options on the second one. I've first installed XP on one hard drive and then (several months later, when it looked stable), I've installed RH9 on a second hard drive. Grub, the program that RH9 Linux installs manages the boot. Just take care if you make partitions. Make sure that RH9 installer recognizes it and put it on the lists of boot options (the Grub list).

About your video card dilemma, I think there's always somebody working on a module for... a new device, a new card, etc, etc, etc Maybe your card won't be used a 100% but even so, I guess it'll works fine.

Yes you can dual boot its done all the time

I dual boot XP and RH9. A bit confused about what you were saying of only being able to use 2d cards? My old GF3 had great 3d on RH9, I haven't got around to testing my 9700 Pro yet properly, but it looks like there are improved drivers on the way soon. I was under the impression the linux drivers on ATi's site worked as well, just not perfectly.
