Red Hat 9.0 on Asus A7N-266VM woes.
Well... this one deserves a special mention
A few weeks bk I had posted my problem on the forum regarding RHL 9.0 bootup problems....
I am grateful to all the ppl who responded.
Well I tried all things mentioned ( stopped just short of prctising black magic), but to no avail.
In continuation of my problem... i tried to boot an exactly similar machine thru my HDD having the 474 MB minimal linux install. It booted perfectly. I tried doing it on my computer but failed. I was sure that the motherboard was faulty, so replaced it under warranty. But to my horror the problem resurfaced blew my lid off. I tried reinstalling Linux for the Nth time now. At this point I tried to make my comp. config exactly the same as the one on which Linux ran. The only difference being that I had a MS optical Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 (USB) while the other comp. had MS Scroll mouse (PS/2). I now tried booting with the PS/2 mouse connected... viola.. IT DID. I am now running my machine flawlessly by using a USB to PS/2 adapter for my mouse, I now have RHL 9.0 'everything' install.
I fail to find reason for this. All comments are welcome. To add just a line... before Linux loyalists start cursing Miicrosoft remember that both mouse were MS and functioned flawlessly in Windows.
