I've searched the Internet and this forum and didn't find any answer to my problem. Maybe because I don't really know what keywords to search for.
My Red Hat was working fine. I spent some days without using it and when I tried to boot it, it didn't work anymore.
All seems to be starting up just fine, all the usual messages. I get the text mode login prompt that disappears as expected because X is suppose to start. But all I get is a black screen.
I can not go into text mode using ctr+alt f1
Can't terminate X
Can ssh to my machine from another in the same network
It seems to be completely stopped.
I tried booting up using the CD and linux rescue
I get the shell and I can browse my file system. My problem now is where should I start trying to find out why my system hangs? I tried looking in XFree86 logs but I didn't see anything different from my older logs.
What else can I do?
