Red Hat 8 video problems

I'm an extreme newbie so bear with me please. I am dual booting Win2k with RedHat 8. I have a 17 in flat panel monitor (dude its a dell) and when I boot in to linux it goes through the boot sequence fine but then my screen goes black and it says Can't dislpay video in this mode. How do I get back into linux to change the mode. I've tried typing "I" to go into interactive startup but that doesn't work. Please help. thanks

if u can get to a prompt then type xf86config to reconfigure the x server

if u can't get to a prompt then before u load linux at the

boot:

prompt type:
linux 3

that will put u in run level 3.
