Red Hat 7.2 Freezes Upon Boot

I recently installed Red Hat 7.2 on my Compaq Presario 2262 computer. The installation went well, completing successfully. However when i try to boot into the system it freezes at the "mxt_scan_bios : enter" line. I partitioned the drives using disk druid, both windows 98 and linux are installed on the same drive. linux was installed last. my computer has 96mb RAM and a 233Mhz Processor with a 2.1gb fuijitsu HD. the computer runs on phoenixbios. the partitioning scheme on my drive looks like this

Primary Partitions

Win 98 (1GB) /boot (21Mb) x ext3

Logical Partitions

/swap (192mb) / (900mb) ext3 * I ensured that the amount allocated was flexible not a fixed value.

I would be delighted if anyone could possibly post any responses to this notice, I will supply more details upon request if necessary

Edit : Here is some more info about my system and its partitions

General System Information:
Total Physical Memory (bytes): 95,846,400
Used Physical Memory: (bytes): 95,305,728
Maximum Page File Size: (bytes): 165,412,864
Current Page File Size: (bytes): 134,668,288

For a screenshot of my partitions click below

I wonder if it's hanging on the "mxt_scan_bios: enter" or the one after it? Here is the part from my "/var/log/dmesg"

apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x07 (Driver version 1.14)
mxt_scan_bios: enter
Starting kswapd v1.8
VFS: Diskquotas version dquot_6.5.0 initialized
Detected PS/2 Mouse Port.

it pauses right at the mxt_scan_bios line, ive tried using different types of partition formation of which none works, it looks like it something to do with the bios, it may well be that my comp aint compatible with red hat

I realise that it could well
be kswapd causing this error, do you know of any examples where kswapd has
caused this sort of lock, or do you even know remotely why it is doing this?
If kswapd is actually the problem, then the kernel logging should be fixed. It would be nicer if "kswapd" was logged before the hang up. I do not know exactly how the kernel logging works, but the answer is in the source code.

Exclamation Simmilar problem after incorrect shutdown

I installed RH7.2 and it worked fine (used it as an education machine) until this morning, and it halted on MXT_SCAN_BIOS.. If it really is a kswapd issue, it is abit hard to diagnose, it is even harder to diagnose because it fixed it self after 3 reboots, not doing more than pressing the button..

Is there anyone who know how to debug this, what does mxt_scan_bios/kswapd? How do I enable more debug info from the kernel?

Are there an active teenager out there that can give me an answer. I am to old to keep it in my head.
