Red Hat 7.2 and user@host problems

Greets.

First off, my apologies if this post is in the wrong forum.

My problem is that I recently upgraded to RH 7.2.

In 7.1, when I logged into IRC from my box, I'd get a normal u@h...

ie.... msmith@hostname.com

Well, since I've upgraded to 7.2 I get a randomly assigned username...

ie....*![C0Dz5t0HN@hostname.com

Any help someone can give me to point me in the proper direction to fix this problem (I will most often take 3 or 4 login attempts as the IRCd kicks me off for an invalid user name) would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried redhat.com and they're worthless over there on their support forums. I had this question posted for about a month with no answer.

All programs should have a folder with files in your home folder that store their config stuff

do this

ls -la ~ | more

you will see a list of all your files and folders in your home folder,

look for the folder that is named after the program like .irc or .xchat whatever it is for your program.

the config files are in the folder. You can look into it and try to figure it out, or ...

If you can deal with setting it up from scratch just delete the folder and then run the program . It will start up like you never ran it before.

rm -rf .xchat

That's the thing...I don't think it's X-Chat...I think it's got something to do with RedHat.

Reason I say that is because my IRCd connects to the other servers in the little baby IRC network I run with the funky user@ too....

Any ideas?
