recoverying boot loader

Well...I'm using redhat 7.3 with it updated kernel. What i did was, i downloaded kernel 2.4.22 and compiles it and eventually, the kernel had some problem therefore resulting kernel panic.

The others kernel were install in grub but i dont know how to use grub. So i installed it using lilo and theres only 1 kernel in lilo and its not working.

The question is, can i boot up using the installation disc or any other solution? Please help, its urgent

the man pages and specifically to your problem, man grub, could've saved you this kind of headache. try to boot into linux with your install cd as suggested above, or with a boot floppy if you created a boot floppy. as root, use this command:

grub-install /dev/hda which should get grub up and running.

also, when you installed your new kernel, i hope you didn't replace the other kernel packages. if you did, since your new kernel won't boot, you might have to run your installation cd and do an upgrade install installing only the kernel on the cd to get a bootable kernel.
