recovering files


hi,

i have accidently overwritten a file on a linux server. Is there any way to recover the previous version of the file.

thanks in advance for any help

what u did exactly?
used cp/ftp/scp or using any editor?
can u give some more details.

I am working on a remote linux server. By mistake i uploaded a file through FTP in the www folder. The previous version of the file got overwritten on the server. I don't have much permissions on the server. I guess chances of recovering the file are very less.
