OInce you down load music you go to /music/itunes/itunesmedia/"pick-a-file" it's all you moves and music are there DRM free and can be converted to whatever tickles your fancy. I use iTunes for virtually nothing but keep it all in a library because I can just drag and drop the library to whatever Mac I'm on. Same applies to Aperture/iMovie/Garage Band. If your switching systems you just right click on the library and go to show masters and all you photos an such are there.

For any song purchased in the last 5 years, yes. I'm not sure about songs purchased before then, when they still had DRM.

Yes, I'm still quite Apple centric and have been since my parents brought home and Apple II. I bought an iPod in 2002 when I got back from Afghanistan as a present to myself all the music I've downloded in 12 years sits on my MacBook Pro, My Hackintosh, and my Arch Box. All the music I acquired through means less than legal also reside on my machines and in my iTunes match. Apple, Mac, and iJunk aren't inherently good or bad they are systems with limitations like all others people inject the drama especially with Apple and everything being amazingly great etc. etc.

I just realized I never addressed the second part of the statement "overcoming them." The easy part would be helping them install and understand the basics. However; then explaining road blocks, just an example off the top of my head flash-player® and how to think out side the box, so to speak, maybe the monkey in the wrench?

most people dont switch to Linux because average users dont like to mess with installing and configuring a new OS in their computer, so many of them go and buy a new computer when their current OS become corrupt.

My mom used to do that, but the new computer kept coming with an OS that was even less usable than the corrupt one. Those versions of windows so bad, that people were giving away their new computers if you could make their old ones work again. Eventually I got mom to convert to linux, and now I haven't had a new computer in 7+ years. Doh!

Most people don't switch to Linux because lots of things don't work and there's nobody to blame when they don't.
Yes, there are a few situations where Linux happens to be a better choice than Windows but, for the most part, Windows will just do the job.
Or there's Apple. Personally, I hate the computer-as-an-appliance thing and iPhones are the epitome of form-over-function. However, for people who don't want to "go under the hood" Apple products are perfect. Three examples of people I know who like apple products sum them up: My little brother who's clever, creative and doesn't like technology; my ex who's frighteningly intelligent, uses computers a lot, but gets sick of Windows problems and a friend who writes scripts on UNIX servers for a living and used to build his own kernels on his phone, TV and anything else he could get his hands on who just got bored and bought a Mac.

Lazy is a word that gets used a lot by people who enjoy using computers when referring to those who enjoy those who enjoy what computers can give them. There is nothing lazy about buying a product or tool to accomplish a task.

You have me curious. What has Apple done to deserve hatred? AFAIK in the corporate world of wolves, they've been relatively lamb-like. On the plus side they've always been on the bleeding edge of technology. I've seen a few products that seem more concerned with appearance than some functions, especially thermal, but that's hardly hate-worthy. What upsets you?
