Real Networks and Fedora

I installed Fedora core 4 and when I tried to play an mp3 file with helix player it basically said it couldn't decode it and then it suggested that I install Real Player, I clicked on cancel when it wanted to take me to real’s web site (I was not connected to the Internet). So I later rebooted only to find out that Real was somehow installed. I didn’t do anything to install it, So I am thinking that someone already had Real packed away somewhere inside fedora or helix. But when I let my mouse hover over the icon for Real it says “RealPlayer9 Netscape/Mozilla Plugin 9.0.7.151”. Is RealPlayer supposed to be installed? I do not like Real Networks or their software so my first thought was that this was their doing, packing it in there and letting be installed whether or not you want it, could this be true. And I installed Xine too and I noticed that it is not only listed in the sound and video menu but there has been a folder created and named “Multimedia” placed under the Desktop menu (gnome’s toolbar) and in the preferences and the system settings menu, why was it not just placed in the sound and video part, why put it in four places?

Actually, real-player 10 gold for linux is pretty nice. The windows version is a living hell, but The linux one doesn't interrogate you, make craploads of popups, or spam you. Since the new realplayer is based on helix, helix might have had a binary ready for you (although I doubt it...).
I use fedora core 4 as well, and I would reccomend visiting http://www.stanton-finley.net/fedora...ion_notes.html before you try to use any multimedia or games.
