Hi guys, I've a small question:
is sendmail and IMAP have the same fuction "both do the same work". or, sendmail is a Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) and IMAP is a protocol that handels the messages from the mail servers, I reviewed linuxCBT and found that sendmail and IMAP are same (MTA). and found that sendmail is a (MTA) and IMAP is a protocol used by clients to download mail from servers, you can see the link
http://www.redhat.com/support/resour...-FAQ/x132.html

Your question is not very clear to me, but I'll take a stab at it: sendmail is an MTA. IMAP is a protocol for retrieving mail from a mailbox. sendmail does NOT handle IMAP. For IMAP, you need something like dovecot, courier, or cyrus.
