rc.local question

I know the "/rc.d/rc.local" file is suppose to run at boot after the other scripts. My question is where is that defined.

More precisely, I have started to thinker with smoothwall. Seems interesting, but it does not use the rc.local script.
Any one know from where the file is being called?

I looked in the "inittab" file and I don't think it is from there. By the way, any good place I should look to learn about the structure of that file?

Thanks in advance.

In slackware the rc.local script is called from the rc.M script which is called from inittab.
