rc.d scripts

Hi All,
Could anyone please tell me if the links in /etc/rc.d are built by a specific build script while building Linux kernel? I want to know who creates the start (S) and kill (K) links in rc.d.

Thanks in advance,
Aashish

Those scripts have nothing to do with the compiling of the kernel. They are part of the GNU userland, meaning they sit ontop of the kernel layer. They are just applications that the kernel manages.

Thanks Alex.
I guess I was asking the wrong question in the first place. I managed to look-up the build scripts in the project that I am building (at work) and found that there are special scripts writing into rc.d. So what links are created to what scripts in init.d depends on the project, and there is no "standard" way in which Linux filesystem items are built. Got that.
