Randomly changing block device names for external devices
I am experiencing changing /dev/sd* names for any usb type devices that are plugged into my laptop. The black device name was listed as /dev/sdd1 from a fresh install as well I should mention.
The single primary HDD drive never changes and their are no other drives, but when plugging in an external the device name suddenly jumps to /dev/sdb, /dev/sdd, /dev/sde, and even /dev/sdf completely at random at boot. I have the external device name /dev/sdd1 and it just ignores it at boot and I have to mount by hand. This has been going on for a while and I am at a loss. |
