raid 1+0/0+1 controller question

Hello,

I am trying to figure out what hardware raid controller and raid
configuration is the best to use for my mysql database. I have 6
seagate scsi drives and mysql on red hat 7.2. What are some choices I
have, what do you use in production environment?

I was reading up on that and my conclusion is that raid 1+0 gives the
best redundancy+write performance and mylex acceleraid series is the
cost effective and widely used raid controller.

Some questions:
What are the differences between 1+0 and 0+1? Is there a performance
issue with 1+0?
What are the issues with software raid? can 0+1/1+0 be done with the
opensource or I need to get veritas?

Thank you

Here are two links that will help you out. I personally would do a hardware raid 1 or 5 setup with a Adaptec raid controller.
