Radeon PCI and RedHat 7.3

I have a 32mb SDR Radeon PCI graphics card, and when I try to start X on my machine i just get a garbled display, usually displaying a very distorted view of whatever i saw last (i have a dual boot machine, so it will display a warped version of my Windows 98 wallpaper). I'm using the version of X that comes with redhat 7.3, i assume it's 4.2.0.

What other information can I give to help in the diagnosis of the problem?
