Quiet gateway

Hi,

I've just set up a Linuxgateway in my flat, an old computer with no fan, and thought that it wouldnīt make any noise. Iīve also set the hdparm spindown time to 30 sec. But just when itīs quiet, the hdd spins up again. What do I do to make it compleatly silent???

You could stop all the syslog-ing from the ipchains/tables. But that would be kinda silly IMO. I got a stack of Fuji 10GB ATA/66 drives a while back that were super-quiet, and most of the new drives from Quantum/Maxtor/Fuji/Seagate are very quiet. Or if you had money to burn you could get a PCMCIA or Flashdisk type of setup at 64MB.

Earplugs are cheaper. <shrug>
