i have a couple pressing issues. i was wondering if someone can help.

another thing that is bothering me is the fact that CONTROL+C won't work in console applications in certain virtual consoles (e.g. it will work in console 2 but not in console 3). for example, if i am sshing into another box and it's taking a long time to respond, i'd wish to cancel it with ctrl+c. however, sometimes it won't respond to my request in which case i have to kill -9 the process...

what is wrong with my configurations that is causing these things to occur?

I've read alot about the problem (it's happening to me also) on the RH mailing lists. It's apparently due to a race condition in the login program (util-linux package.) As far as I know, no new util-linux has been released that corrects the problem.
