Question on Compatibility


I have a question concerning compatibility issues. I have looked at the HCL and I didn't find some of my hardware listed there. Could you please tell me which Linux distribution would be compatible with these devices:

Monitor: HP Ergo Ultra VGA (10 years old)

Scanner: Microtek ScanMaker 3600

Modem: PCTEL HSP56

Printer: Samsung ML-2510

Mouse: Logitech First/Pilot Mouse Serial
(M34, M35, C43)

Keyboard: Microsoft Natural PS/2 (10 year old HP
model)

CPU: Intel Celeron, 1715 (17x101)

Motherboard: Asus P4BGL-VM (3 PCI, 2 DIMM, Video)

Motherboard chipset: Intel Brookdale-G i845GL

System Memory: 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

Distro probably isn't as important as kernel version. I would say that if you have all the hardware handy (like it's an existing machine), download a live CD (it runs entirely from CD and won't touch whatever is already installed on your computer) and pop it in to see what works and what doesn't. There are many liveCD's to choose from (Knoppix, Ubuntu, PCLinux OS, Mepis, etc), just pick a fairly recent one. Usually the tricky parts are printers, scanners, and modems.
