Question: meaning of Hz in the Linux Kernel

Hello.

I was wondering what Hz standed for on a linux kernel. Some people have it set at 1000, 100, or 200.

What does the Hz do, and how do I compile a new kernel with Hz?

Thanks

Thanks for the response, now I have a somewhat of a idea of what Hz is... other posts are encouraged!

arc4ne; as u now it is hertz and since it would operate within a frequency so that it will be effecient. most electonics operate that way, all those terms bandwidth, bus, etc use hertz as a simple explanation. sorry not being condesending my apology.

How do I change Hz in the 2.4.27 kernel?

The topic is pretty much explanatory.

I need help on knowing how to change the kernel Hz from default ( 100 ) to 1000 specifically in the 2.4.27 kernel.

Currently running CentOs.

Never heard of Colonel Hurts before.
Seriously though, maybe you could explain what it is you're looking for. I understand that CentOs uses standard Linux kernel, so which Hz are you referring to?

I am referring to Hz as the frequency of the timer interrupt.

If anyone can help, please post!
