question about memory ?
 
Total Memory 1019392 kB
Free Memory 150208 kB
Total Swap Memory 1044216 kB
Free Swap Memory 1044216 kB



looks like system is sucking the memory ? is it something i should do or setup ?

server is for web hosting
CentOS 3.4

Normal in Linux. Your using no swap and I'm sure most of your memory is cached. Linux unlike Windows keeps memory cached for quicker access instead of releasing it when your done with it.

This question is asked almost daily, a quick search will find more answers and explanations of how memory usage in Linux works compared to other OS's.

Works o.k. for most configurations Linux is used for. As it moves up the corporate ladder, I suspect it gets exposed a bit. Seems to be a bit of chat within the memory management developers about how to adjust the page stealing algorithms.
This is a side interest of mine, so I'm just starting to look into it in Linux.
