Question about LiveLinux Cdsa


I have a fairly simple question. When running a live linux cd for example Slax. I wanted to use it to change some settings on the linux i have intalled on my laptop already. How do i mount the drive and have permission to change the settings. I remember seeing the command here before but since forget where i seen it.

The command to mount a disk is "mount" and "man mount" will tell you all about it.

I know how to mount the drive. I'm looking for the command, where instead of me being root on the cd, i am root for the drive.
