Question Question about Drivers... and Upgrades... :|


Hi I use Creative Xfi Platinum Sound Card on my PC and well once I've installed Linux or my Mother has... well what will I have to do as I've just checked the Creative Website and they haven't got any Sound Drivers or anything for Linux which just sucks... =\ ... can someone please help me here??

Also what will I have to do o update all the Drivers and stuff on the PC like Game Adopters, Internet and Stuff what kind of Downloads can I get like where do I download Drivers for such stuff or doe's SuSE Automatically come with all the stuff you need or what may I ask coz I'm kinda now stuck here and haven't got a clue... I hope no one minds me asking these!!! hehe...

drivers come with the kernel. it should already work fine, although some advanced features you're used to might not be avaliable.

Unfortunately, there are no drivers available for that soundcard at the present time (I have one myself, so I feel your pain!). Because the X-Fi uses new technologies, the older ALSA drivers do not work.

Hopefully Creative will release enough information to allow someone to create a driver, if they do not release a driver themselves. You may wish to send their customer support a line asking them to support the Linux user community with drivers.
