Arrow quake 2 problem

Hi,
When ever I try to connect to a q2 server in linux, I put in the ip addy and port and then hit refresh so that it shows up in the address list. Everything is fine until I hit enter to connect, when I do this it reverts whatever the server ip is back to my 192.168.0.1 internal ip and plots on the :whateverport after it at which the server on the inet was using that port.. anyone have any idea?
