Hello all I'm interested in building my own PVR system. I have a wintv 350 card I'm getting the rest of the items for the system as I continue to figure out what I need and don't need. I'm going to use MythTV which should be fun since I'm not really good at linux yet, so I should learn some things as I go along.

My main question is with a wintv 350 card is this all I'm going to need, because I've read some people's system specs and they had both a 350 and a 150 card which I'm not a 100% sure why you need the second card for. Also with Myth and the 350 card will I need anything special to capture satellite TV? Thanks alot everyone.

The idea of a second card it to be able to record one programme and watch another programme at the same time. Otherwise, you are limited to being able to do one or other. I'm not familiar with your particular card, but usually you need a separate card with digital DVB ability to capture the feeds from digital satellite equipment.
