I've seen that video. There aren't the cd's on sale. Most expansion usage for the PS2, was for storing games on a hard drive. Most videos are about that. The program is rare for the PS2 to run linux.

I've done some searches on this, I've got two systems, a 2000 model, and a 2004 model.

I've downloaded DVD option 3, small version. Not sure exactly, what contains what, the largest one is over 2.6GB or about that size.

I guess, if I extract the file as this page seems to recommend, and burn to a DVD.

http://kernelloader.sourceforge.net/...talllinux.html

It is easier to start the Linux Live DVD and extract the baseimage from the DVD. The base image is at /oldroot/cdrom/SRC/BASE-1.0.TGZ. The kernel is on the DVD at BOOT/VMLINUX.GZ.
To get the command line, you need to start xterm from the menu. Then you need to enter the command "su" to get root access.

I've extracted the file ps2linux_live_v3_pal_small_no_modchip now a disc image, 1.63GB.

So I think just send it to the DVD, and it should load..I already have the program running on a PS2 memory card.

Question

I simply tried this, and I ended up with this.

Kernel loader probably needs to be on a folder on the dvd, along with the disc image, I would guess.

That is the link. Kernelloader.sourceforge.net

https://sourceforge.net/projects/ker.../Kernelloader/

There are these loaders here.

I simply downloaded loader 2.6 and placed onto the disc I have, which is Formated to the old 32 file system. And I can load the live cd. So it does work. As for using the system square button seems to load a menu, and then you have a number of programs, firefox being one of them. I can't seem to load it.

I tried connecting an Ethernet cable today to the 2004 model PS2, doesn't work. It could be there isn't the support for that hardware piece on this model. Fluxbox 0.9.14 linux, does have a restart option, but doesn't really do anything.

Dillo browser and firefox are on it, firefox doesn't load.

I was able to load firefox, i think now. But it is very slow, but the other browser does actually work to load. And the system model can access the net.

Here is the web browser loaded with google search, so it works running on a slim ps2, live cd, of course it doesn't do much else other than what is displayed.
