PS/2 problem on Fedora 5.0

Hello every expert,

I have installed Fedora 5.0 in my computer.
I find out that during installation and now using the Fedora 5.0, the PS/2 still cannot be used. Now, I use USB keyboard and USB mouse. It is very inconvenience for me. Are there any setting or patches solving this problems?

Thank you very much.

The file /etc/X11/xorg.conf controls the keyboard, mouse, and monitor. If you have the correct entries in there, they should work, if there are no hardware problems.

Is this just a FC5 problem? Do you have any other OS installed so you can verify you don't have a hardware problem with the PS/2 ports?

One way would be to get a live linux CD such as Knoppix and boot it with your PS/2 hardware installed. If it works, you will know it is a FC5 issue. You can then look at the xorg.conf file and look for the sections defining the mouse and keyboard. Compare that to what you see in FC5. You edit that file as root.
