Programs start by themselves when logging in to KDE

Whenever I log in to KDE as a particular non-root user, I have a collection of programs start up all by themselves. They are programs that I typically use or have used in a particular session. I suspect I have accidentally saved a session somehow and now can't get KDE to forget it.

Any ideas on what is going and how to fix it?

I use Gnome, but if I have Evolution or xmms or something open when I shutdown, next time I login as that same user, the session continues. Not an explanation/reason I know, but just letting you know that same thing happens to others. I'm sure one of the more skilled members will be able to provide a true explanation.

Close all the apps while in KDE, hit log off button and choose to save the session, next time you login there is a clean desktop waiting for you.

That did it. It's funny, I shutdown once without closing everything down like I usually do. I boot up again and see the old programs load up and wonder what's going on. When I log out I see that "Save session ..." option and uncheck it to make the problem go away and what I get? The old desktop with all those old programs loading up. But the Save Session option is off ... ! The thing is possessed ... by me.
