programming language for linux

i wish to command one programming language ... i m allright in c and c++ ... but i wish to command one lang .. i m very enthusiastic in linux .. so c++ does not loook a good option ... as far as i know .. C is language for linux ... i have heard PERL is very powerful with linux ... can anyone suggest one lang ?
how abt java ? although not much popular with linux .. it do have some name in GUI ..

Do a search on the forum and you'll find a number of relatively recent posts that address the issue.
C is the base language for the OS, but appears to be a bit cumbersome for GUI. Other languages like Perl and Python are easier for this purpose, but it all depends on what you want to do.
