Program to open .sig file

I have a .sig file sent to me I would like to open. Nothing in Open Office will open it. that I have tried, and the gimp and ghostview don't take that extension. It was a newspaper article so likely scanned in. Am I missing something in OO or is there another program I can get to open it? Red Hat 7.2 with KDE and Gnome..

I've never heard of a .sig file before. One way to find out more about it is by using the command-line program 'file'. Try:

file whatever.sig

It'll spit back a line telling you whatever it knows about the file format.

If you can't find a way to open it, maybe you could request that whoever sent it to you provide it in a more standard format, if that is possible.

It gives me a Microsoft Office Document. Knowing the sender, I doubt they have any idea how to change it or what it is. I fould in webopedia it is a PrintShop Sign file. I've never used any system but Linux so can't advise him how to change it. I know they must have scanned it in since it is a newspaper article.
