Program exe


I was woundering if how to make a porgram so that i can run it by just typing the program name and not have to be in the directory which it resides.

create a shortcut in /usr/bin
chmod it + x

and you will be able to call it from anywhere


example :
su root
cd /usr/bin
pico name_here
/home/PlatinumRik/name_of_the_program_that_you_want_to_run
save and quit
chmod a+x name_of_the_program_that_you_want_to_run

Or just add the directory to your current $PATH

Just be careful doing that. Especially if you're considering doing it to the system-wide profile. It could affect the root account as well. The suggestion to put a link in /usr/local/bin or $HOME/bin is usually considered the best way (security-wise) to accomplish what you're after.
