Proftpd question

How do you stop proftpd at the shell prompt? I know how to kill it but how do you restart it?

I am using Mandrake 8.1 and I had proftpd installed during setup.

Thanks

Usually most services have a control script in the /etc/init.d directory. Try looking there for a proftpd script. You can call that script with the parameter stop/start/restart.

To restart you'd usually do something like:
/etc/init.d/proftpd restart
