process seems to be killed but terminal is still open

I have a binary file in linux which is executable. The problem is when I run it from terminal and watching the process (with top) on another terminal, after two seconds, the process is removed from top. However in the first terminal (where I executed the binary) the control doesn't get back to the prompt. That mean the process is still running. But I don't see that in "top".

What can I do? I don't know how to trace. I don't think the process is killed because of memory leakage. Because it takes a few seconds to disappear.

Comment please....

Tasks are sorted by CPU usage (by default) so only 'TOP N' is shown (N depending on how many lines are displayed by your terminal.)

ps -e | grep PROGRAM_NAME

man top
man ps

After 5 minutes (it has been gone from top command), the output of your command says:

7700 pts/5 00:00:00 leslie3d_base.a

Why the time is all zero?

Hmmm, strange, really don't know... You could also try:
top | grep PROGRAM_NAME
