/proc/sys/kernel/hostname quesiton

Recently I had installed Fedora Core 3 on a my system. I had been working on the machine for a week with no problems. When I booted up this morning I received a message from GNOME that it could not find "dell-home" in my /etc/hosts file. For some reason my hostname changed to "dell-home" over the weekend(the machine was completely unplugged over the weekend). I checked /etc/sysconfig/network but found my hostname was fine there (I never set one, so it was still localhost.localdomain). I checked further to find that "/proc/sys/kernel/hostname" has been changed, and in it is "dell-home".

I am assuming something has happened to my system in regards to /proc/sys/kernel/hostname, but even as root I cannot edit or overwrite this file.

My question is how do I get my system to read my hostname as "localhost.localdomain" again?

Thanks in advance.

Quick add to the above post:

It seems that the "dell-home" hostname only happens when I plug a network cable in and boot the machine. I also see a "Setting network parameters..." flash by on the system startup...may that have something to do with it?

Again thanks.
