Problems opening a X-window screen from another host

I do a telnet to a different station. I want to run an aplication in this remote station, that runs in graphical mode but when I try open it, I receive a error related to x-window, something like the remote aplication can't contact the x-window server.

What can i do?

Thanks a lot

Enzo

On your local machine, is the X server opened to the outside?

ps -edf | grep X

If there is the -nolisten on the command line, then your X server is not listening for external queries.

netstat -ant ip4 shows port 6000 open to the outside world?

If yes then from the destination machine, try to telnet back to your X server on port 6000 and see if you can connect to it. It could be a firewall problem.

Also, on the destination machine, you have to set the DISPLAY value to point to your xserver

You should use SSH with X-forwarding, like "ssh -Y user@host" (-X on old versions).
