Problems logging into Windows after installing Fedora
I installed Fedora Core 3 with a dual boot with Win XP Pro. When I try to log into Windows I get an UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_ERROR. I've used a few distros one being Mandrake 10.1 community. I wiped Mandrake and put Fedora on and anymore I get this error. I've also used CentOS (A very nice Red Hat Enterprise clone) and SUSE 9.1 personal. I know CentOS did the same thing but I'm not sure of Suse I think it did though. If I put Mandrake back on it will work fine though I've done it before. I believe in the past Mandrake corrupted the partition table. Is there something with Mandrake that causes this? Is there some way to fix this? NOTE: I use a 200GB Western Digital drive.

While you wait for more help, you should read this: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=237511
It's known that some kernel2.6 distros as mandrake 10, fedora 2 and suse 9.1 write a bad partition table(note: that's not a grub problem) I have solved my suse problem repartitioning with knoppix, after i tried: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...readid=243931. Good luck. |
