Problems Installing several Linux Distributions on one machine.

Im trying to install linux on one of my computers but It keeps on asking me what is the source of the installation I select the CD room that has it and can not find the files. ( this happens setting up all distributions of linux that I have; and I always get a similar message... Can not read from source, can not load files into memory etc... a different error acording to the distribution of linux )

now I have the Set up disks in CD and DVD tryied both and same problem

even change the CD/DVD Drive thinking it was the problem and same thing....

then change the Hard Drive thinking that there was probably a problem with it but same thing !

( gota mention that I have no problem setting up other operating sistems that are not Linux )

perhaps there is some kind of configuration that has to be set in the bios b4 installing linux?

anyway.... any comment would be appreciated.
thx

Your system BIOS must be set to boot from CDrom first. e.g. My BIOS boot order is set to CDrom, Floppy, Hard Drive. This allows me to boot from CDrom or floppy disk in case of emergency and install Linux from CDrom.

no I have noo problems booting up, the installations begins and all without a problem

but when its about to copy the files then I get those errors.

can you run a live cd (knoppix is good)?
if so, can you access the other CD/DVD? (was i right in thinking you have two?)

just maybe this is a RAM problem - try a memtest

just tryied to run knopix, booted up, but wont load the operating system

it shows a bunch of lines and Disabling IRQ 18, BAD IRQ....
( Knopix does a memory check up and it shows me no errors )
Gonna go to the bios and change that IRQ I'll let u guys know what's the outcome

thx !

YESSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!

gentelman!! its seems this is a very commun problem I looked up on the net about the IRQ 18 thin and there is an option that has to be changed in the bios on some boards cos it confuses the Linux Kernel

anyway u have to modify the P-ATA & S-ATA option on the bios in order to not confuse the drives on linux !

thank you all for trying to help me !!
really appreciate it :)
