Problems booting IPCop

We're using an IPCop box as a firewall and had very few problems with it. It's just been rebooted and is now hanging after the lines

"Bringing network up
Setting up firewall"

After that, nothing. Is there any way to boot it in some sort of "safe-mode" so that we can start to debug it? I wondered if you could pass in a parameter when it boots, but don't know what you'd type.

Thanks
