Problem with playing audio CDs and mp3 songs

Hello everyone,

I have Redhat8 installed in my compaq PC. I'am unable to play audio CDs or mp3 songs. When I log in as root I'am able to hear the test sound being played in the "sound settings", but I'am not able to hear any audio in any audio player.

Also another irritating problem is that whenever I log out of windows and log into linux initializing eth0 interface fails. when the installation was first made, it worked fine but once i reboot to windows and get back to linux i need to unplug/plug my router(I have small lan with 4 computers connected) it sucks right ?

Can anyone let me know how to get around the problem.

Thanks,
Murali.

For Audio CDs, plug in the audio cable for your CD-ROM. You can use cdda2wav if you don't feel like climbing in your computer to attach the cable.

Go into your BIOS and set PNP OS or something similar and set it to no or to BIOS. This should help. When going back and forth from Windows to LINUX or LINUX to Windows. You can try auto IP addressing in LINUX.
