Question problem with opening nam in ns2

I am running ns2 in Solaris. I am running a simple tcl script which contains : exec nam out.nam & , in the finish procedure.
Upon running it using: ns simple.tcl, I am getting the following error:
nam: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable.

Can anyone tell me how to set this display variable and to what value.

Thanx

Welcome to LQ.

NAM is a GUI application, minimum requirements is X.
There will be no nam, if you work in CLI only.

I have no problems using nam in OpenSolaris.
X + Gnome is included.

May be use Google : export display solaris
..
