Problem with file-deletion after a while
hi,
i've got the following problem since a few weeks... I'm using a Linux Software RAID System with 2x Samsung 160GB HDs on SuSE 9. The RAID system is mounted as a vFAT partition because it was created by an older version of SuSE (8.0). Well this might not the cause but i dont know why its mounted as vfat. Ok. Now since a few weeks ALL my NEWLY created files on the raid are living for about 2 hours. The others remain untouched. After that the file is reseted to a size of 0KB and the file is defective. The curious thing about it is, that there aren't any other changes made to the file. That means the timestamp and rights stay the same (this also happens if i marked the file as read-only). There aren't any Log-Entries as well. Please help me i have no ideas left. :( |

No idea what's happening, I'd back-up the data I
need and re-install ... I'm surprised that Linux should work of a vfat file-system in the first place! :) But wait for other opinions on that one, it's just that I never even heard of anything the like... Btw, the bump wasn't OK, you're supposed to wait for 24 hours ... Cheers, Tink |
