Have you installed Sun's jre for Linux on the system and created the link??

Instructions can be found here;

http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html#Java

FYI: both FC1 and mozilla-1.4.1 are both old, please consider updating. For mozilla at least get the latest available for FC1;

mozilla-1.7.12-1.1.1.legacy.i386.rpm 06-Dec-2005 23:05 8.6M

You can get it here http://www.fedoralegacy.org/ along with many other updates if needed if you choose to stay with FC1. If your not used to working with yum consdier doing so, it's really quite easy to use. Onece you have yum configured updating can be as simple as for example(as root of course);

yum update mozilla

Java is not the same as JavaScript, so installing the JRE isn't gonna make a difference to the JavaScript problem.

The odds are that site was designed with MS Internet Explorer in mind, and not really tested with other browsers.

Each browser has its own Javascript interpreter built in, and they're not all quite the same, so there may be Javascript errors that show up when using one browser but which work fine on another.

Get the latest versions of Firefox and Opera, and try it with those. Firefox in particular has a really good Javascript debugger, so you can easily see what is causing the problem. If you still have trouble, even with those two browsers, try posting the error message(s) from the FF debugger; it'll give us a clearer idea of what the problem is.

Hope that helps
