I have a problem with iPod mini and FC2 aswell. When I try to mount it reports some problem. But when I try with live Linux it works.
Now I'm compilling the latest kernel from kernel.org and maybe it will work. If this doesn't work it would be nice if someone who has this working could post kernel config file so I could see where I'm doing this thing wrong.
