Unhappy Problem mounting cdrom for writing

I am running up to date debian "testing" on a Toshiba A10 S157 notebook.

I am having trouble mounting my cdrom for both reading and writing.

The commnad I have used is:

mount /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0

How do I mount a cdrom for both read and write?

You can not mount a blank CD. The writing application like k3b accesses the device not the mount point.

linux does not have the drag/drop capability like XP and I'm not sure of the current status of writing InCD or DirectCD formated CDs.

What I am trying to do is use the CD writing feature of GNOME 2.6. I am unable to write to the cd due to what I think is some sort of permissions problem. The cdrom mounted as read only. I would think that the cd needs to mounted as read/write in order to use the CD writing feature of GNOME 2.6. I am unable to use use the CD writing feature of GNOME 2.6 as root or s normal user. Any help with this would be great.

CD writing in Gnome is dodgy. You can't mount a blank CD at all, let alone read/write. I'd suggest using something like Gnomebaker, eRoaster or if you have kdebase and qt installed then use k3b
