Problem installing OS X over Debian Linux

Hi,

I installed debian linux on my laptop that used to run Mac OS X. Recently, I've decided to switch back to OS X, but when I start my computer with the OS X installation CD and hold down the "c" key (for boot from CD), nothing happens. I later get to a message that says "Press 'l' for Linux, 'c' for CD" (which usually appears when i start my computer). I press C, but the CD-rom drive spits out my CD, and displays an error regarding some missing rectangle.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

All I can think of is the Mac OSX CD or DVD is scratched or has a finger print.

I tried booting from CD using Yaboot as you described, and for me it works fine (I dual boot OS X and Kubuntu).

If you boot into debian does the CD drive work with CD's?

It might be CD drive which would suck.
