problem installing KDE 3.4.1 using konstruct--urgent

i have installed Mandrake 10.1 using 3 CD installation. Now the KDE is 3.2. But i want to upgrade the KDE to 3.4. I tried to do that with "Konstruct" in the "cd meta/everything" mode. The konsole downloaded a set of files but when it started compiling i get the following error message after which nothing happens!!!

checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details

As i am new to linux, i don't know what to do..........please help me

Install the gcc and gcc-c++ packages in rpmdrake.

You're going to stumble upon more additional packages needed to compile it, and unless you have a very fast machine it's going to take a (very) long while.

Maybe it would be easier to install a distro that has KDE 3.4?
