Thanks, here's some more stuff...
There is a lilo in /sbin but no lilo.conf, so when I type /sbin/lilo -u it tells me that the conf file is missing and stops.
Apparently there's neither such thing as a grub-install nor grub -install... (I typed it at different dirs and everywhere I got "There's no such command".
This is my grub.conf... what the hell means that coment? All I understand is that that're the instructions that linux follow to boot.
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# root (hd0,2)
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hda3
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/hda
default=1
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,2)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Linux (2.4.18-14)
root (hd0,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-14 ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
initrd /boot/initrd-2.4.18-14.img

Thanks again for all your help, if you know anything else, help is welcome
