problem conecting to my web server


Hi,

I configured a web server on fedora 4.

just whan I disable iptables service I can connect to the machine on port 80 throw a browser , my /etc/hosts.allow is as followd:

sshd: ALL
ftpd: ALL
ftp: ALL
web: ALL
httpd: ALL
http: ALL


and my /etc/hosts.deny have :

ALL:ALL

can someone please help in this problem !!

What if you http to localhost?

Mind that /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny are used by the tcp-wrappers i.e. the services started by (x)inetd. Usually a webserver (you didn't tell us if you use apache) starts by it's own startup script, so tcp-wrappers are not used and the entries of these files are ignored.
If you can access your server disabling iptables, then you must open port 80 in you iptables rules.
