Problem booting from 2.6.13 kernel - oops in show_vfsmnt??

Hi everybody,

I'm new to the forum, but not to linux. I've been compiling my own kernels for some time now and I think I understand what I'm doing most of the time ;-).

But yesterday I encountered a problem I've not been able to solve even after 8 hours of googling, code-browsing, chewing my nails off....

I wanted to compile a 2.6.13 kernel with the archck3.1 patch. When I did this for the 2.6.12 kernel that worked fine. But now I get a lot of kernel oopses and finally my system hangs.

I've found that the kernel always oopses at the show_vfsmnt function in fs/namespace.c, or so it seems. And most of the time it crashes in the udevsend or udevinfo process (1 time it crashed with the cron process). Just after my debian sid booted upto about mysql it halts and does nothing, however it does mention the shutdown for halt in /var/log/messages when I press my poweroff button.

I and because I edit the cx88 sources my self for some custom changes the EXTRAVERSION string is -r1 and not -archck3.1.... I don't think that's the problem (in 2.6.12 it wasn't).

Because This post is limited in size I cannot include my kernel config file and kernel log. I will try to post it if I can find attachments or something.. sigh

thanx in advance

This is my final try..... anybody got a clue? I've already tried to compile 2.6.13 with reiser4 and ck6 only and it gives the same fault.
